~ When you can't control what's happening to you, challenge yourself to control your response to what's happening. That is where your power is. ~
Happy New Year! We made it through the holidays and into a brand-new year. Another chance to forge ahead into finding our passions, creativity, and peace.
Our holiday took a wrong turn by delivering Covid on our doorstep two days before Christmas. Needless to say, it was not a Christmas I wish to repeat or even remember.
Sadly, our darling Spartacus went missing around the same time. I am not able to speak much on the topic so I will leave it right there.
That’s life though. It is not always going to run smoothly. We live in a physical world which means anything can happen in the blink of an eye.
So, what are we to do? Get angry? Blame God? Give up? Become a victim? I suspect we have all shared these options more than once through our lives.
Since I had several days to do nothing more than lie in bed and think, here is what I have decided. Not all, but most of our issues are under the control of one person – ME or YOU.
Contrary to Western Christian teaching, God does not have a magic wand to wave around and fix every little woe that befalls us. He could, because, well it’s God, but He doesn’t. Why?
Ever heard of free will? What exactly do you think that means? It means that He gave up control to us. We are in control of what we do or do not do. I must believe He knew it was going to be a mess so guess what He did. He sent Jesus to show us how to UNmess things. When we say it’s God’s will, we are refusing to accept any accountability for our actions, or knowledge of the physical world around us.
So why bother to pray then? We pray to get closer to God. When we pray as a collective, we immediately put action into motion. WE are the ones who can change things. God promises to walk along beside us and guide our steps should we care to ask.
Does this mean we will not have Covid over Christmas? No. Does this mean we will not have many trials in life? No. Will everyone do what they need to do to make our world better? No. Will we never NOT have times of loneliness? No.
What we do have is the power through God’s help to take action to make things better for ourselves. There can be peace amid trials and loneliness.
If there are things in your life you do not like, then get busy figuring out how to make it different. I have a list of things I need to work on in 2024. Wish me luck as I make the effort.
2024, watch out!
Sorry about your quarantine and feeling crappy over the holidays. I’m sorry about Spartacus! I’m so glad you feel better now.

On to bigger and better things in 2024! Thankful that Covid is now behind you. You were working hard even though you were down! Looking forward to what our future has in store…..God already has it planned@
